@pixelfed Looks great!
Here's a radical idea. Countries could just stick to their own current land boundaries and work towards the betterment of their population. Crazy I know.
how am I supposed to trust AI with financial spreadsheets (my team lead's suggestion) when it can't count to five
So you finally left X, or defederated from Threads? Good for you, here's a cookie 🍪
The older I get & the bigger the projects become, the more terrified I am how easy it is to say "we'll get to this next year" or even later than that. It always feels that nothing should take that long (1 year? 100 people? C'mon!) but the reality is that many complex things go slow. At the same time, the worst thing to do is accept a year of development time when the problem itself is not that complex and it's self-inflicted, and someone determined can push through it in a few weeks or months.

I won't be creating an account on #Threads because I deactivated my Facebook and Instagram accounts years ago because:
- Cambridge Analytica
- Myanmar genocide
- Long history of incitement of hate and disinformation for profit
- Helping Fox News drive senior citizens into conspiracy-theory madness

I have no objection (yet) to federating with Threads or following people there. I just refuse to look at their ads or follow their algorithm.

Another fairly long post, this time on the early history of RHEL clones. People look at pre-Red Hat CentOS with rose-colored glasses, but the reality was a lot different.

Updates, pre-Red Hat CentOS, took weeks or months. CentOS was at one point at the mercy of an AWOL project lead.

Copying RHEL was difficult and clones were very little threat in environments where updates and reliability were mandatory.

Red Hat and the Clone Wars III: The dawn of CentOS: Dissociated Press

Until the announcement that CentOS Linux 8 would be EOL at the end of 2021, CentOS users enjoyed a relatively drama-free period of stability that might suggest RHEL has always had a viable, dependa…

Wayland is pretty good, actually

I started working on Flyaway with the intention of becoming familiar with Wayland, its protocols and extensions, and the wlroots library. Instead, I ended up genuinely liking all three.
