Joining Mastodon feels like the early days of Uber, where every interaction is, "oh so how long have you been driving with Uber?" "how much better is this than regular taxis?", "have many of your taxi driver friends joined Uber too?"

@mlapierre Hahah yeah I got there in the end sorry!
@mlapierre Ah I see, if I click a username it'll load the user account on my home instance* (is that the correct term?) at aus.social. Then I could click "follow" and it's straight forward.
But what I've been doing is opening in new tab, which loads that user in their instance* e.g. mastodon.social. And then clicking follow wouldn't work (I have to copy/paste their user name into search at aus.social and add there)!
Is it just me or is the Mastodon follow feature really clunky - specifically for following someone on another instance?
