Understanding Deflate

A very simple worked example

This is apparently a hill I will die on:

Compilers MUST have a command line option to output their abstract syntax trees / understanding of a project in a common format, eg JSON,YAML, or XML (🤢)

Understanding a toolchain's internal understanding of your code is critical for both using, and building upon, that toolchain.

@FunkyBob @jjrscott I made this for a talk where I said "it depends"

How do you know you're talking with a seasoned senior developer?

Well, it depends...

Also, shout-out to @letsencrypt for dramatically changing the security landscape of the Web for the better over the years.

Rarely is there an example of a project so effective and so directly improving everyone's lives, while at the same time keeping the original engineering mindset and just Doing Stuff Rightâ„¢ humbly in the background.

Next November it will have been exactly a decade since LE started. We all owe them a huge 10th birthday party.

@konjelly @frankly @nicholasmodesto @daringfireball @gruber I'm a devoted reader and read his comment over and over, wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I couldn't get myself to that meaning. More and more often, I find he and Ben Thompson giving unearned credence to companies and CEOs, and perhaps that trend has colored my interpretation of this bit, but the fact remains that I tried very hard to give him leeway here but couldn't manage it.

Hey @RantyHighwayman, odd question but do you know if anyone would be interested in crowdsourcing an expanded practical Highway Code rather than begging for changes to what were given now.

Non-binding of course but to a large extent so is the official version.

I made a small project to help me understand how Swift macros are implemented. It takes a few files from SwiftSyntax but uses strings instead of trying to parse the source code. #swift #macros

I propose we ditch all recycling symbols and just legislate space on every part for whatever the https://www.therecyclingassociation.com want. They can then use that space to for whatever information they need to improve handling.

Maybe a small 2D code - whatever works for them.
