This is being driven by XBB.1.5, a variant that emerged in NY. Per our newly found concern about variants that is leading us to require negative tests for flights from China, will we do the same for flights from NYC? Since I’m sure the answer is no, the lack of logic is clear.

National wastewater COVID levels. Sure looks like we are in a surge!

There's a growing separation between wastewater levels (blue) & testing levels (aqua), which is leading people to be misinformed about the amount of COVID spread, as wastewater is rarely mentioned in the news.

It’s a good step to have a permanent pandemic response team at the White House. But it is most likely that the admin is planning to appoint another person who misuses science to sell the White House’s political goals. We need to put pressure on them to appoint someone who actually puts equity and public health over politics.
