Can’t begin to tell you how pleasing it is to see this patchwork, and what it means in terms of the vitality of the Commonwealth.

Millstone 3 ☒️ power station powered back up again yesterday after an 11-day outage.
In spite of appearances, Maisie’s bark is worse than her bite.
One week later, Millstone 3 ☒️ is still down.
Happy Holidays to one and all!

Now that Vineyard Wind I is about to deliver first power to the New England grid, query whether ISO New England will treat OSW as a distinct resource, and report production separately from terrestrial wind? 🀞🏻

Timely analysis from Union of Concerned Scientists re the contribution Revolution Wind & Vineyard Wind would’ve made in the ISO New England control area during the 12/24/22 capacity shortage: Vinyard Wind alone would’ve delivered 700+ MW, eliminating the shortage & creating a capacity surplus.

Offshore Wind Will Add Power When New England Needs It Most

Adding more of this renewable resource will bolster the reliability of the power system during cold spells and help to reduce the risk of close calls like the one the region had on December 24, 2022.

The Equation
Millstone ☒️ Unit 3 began ramping up on 12/10, was at 83% yesterday, and appears to be at 100% now. All three of New England’s nukes are back operating at full capacity.

…An op-ed on beneficial electrification, that is. So my @AcadiaCtr colleague @jamie_dickerson and I did just that, and the @CWBeacon was kind enough to publish it.

Electrifying everything is the right way to go

Our efforts must focus on building a modern electric grid that embraces the wide array of new, clean, reliable, and cost-effective technologies while rapidly downsizing fossil fuel infrastructure.
