So joining Mastodon was only slightly more complicated than joining any other new social media platform, only because of the additional layer of figuring out and understanding the federated server concept for a new user. I created an account on the cupoftea.social server because it was the top server listed with instant approval. But I know nothing about this server or the community and that doesn’t engender much trust in the platform. How important is this server to my ongoing user experience?

@BigBurnum That’s awesome. I follow the same approach. I’m a photographer, but started out as a developer out of college so been in and out of various platforms since the 2000s. Where do you stream? I’ve been wanting to get into that.
@BigBurnum What other social media platform(s) are you coming from? Do you see yourself leaving them behind or using both concurrently?
@BigBurnum by admin do you mean the admin of our server or Mastodon in general? Is the bugginess specific to the server or the platform as a whole?

@SuperMoosie Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. In this specific use case it would be nice to create a post describing how your post was helpful and then just link to your post. Is that acceptable etiquette or am I an old man trying to bring old ideas to new playgrounds?
