So joining Mastodon was only slightly more complicated than joining any other new social media platform, only because of the additional layer of figuring out and understanding the federated server concept for a new user. I created an account on the cupoftea.social server because it was the top server listed with instant approval. But I know nothing about this server or the community and that doesn’t engender much trust in the platform. How important is this server to my ongoing user experience?

If Mastodon accounts are tied to specific servers, shouldn’t there be a link to the server from the users account? I can’t find any information on the server I joined from and there is no reference to it anywhere in my Mastodon app? How can I find the community that is supposedly hosting my Mastodon ID?
