Instructional Design in Higher Ed. Sometimes academic, sometimes luthier, sometimes writer, full-time disturber of the peace.

We're only $3,700 away from getting this kid's college totally paid for all the way to graduation! SO is living with me after being kicked out of their home. They've been paying their own way for years, and have never expected or asked for anything. Please continue to show them how much we believe in them! All young people deserve to pursue their education; systemic change is needed. But for right this second, please help this kid if you can.

Every time everyone on Twitter think it’s been fixed.

The Supreme Court’s Conservatives Are Breaking History and Our Future

Perhaps the most grotesque aspect of the affirmative action opinion lies in its effort to drain the moral and legal force of Brown v. Board of Education.

I have a chapter in this forthcoming book, Higher Education for Good, and it's the project I am most proud of so far in my career. Most proud of, but also most grateful for-- the work in this book will help me persevere with hope and generosity even when the contexts that surround me feel (are) bleak and dangerous. https://www.openbookpublishers.com/books/10.11647/obp.0363 #HigherEd #HE4G #OpenAccess #OA @catherinecronin @czernie
Higher Education for Good: Teaching and Learning Futures

After decades of turbulence and acute crises in recent years, how can we build a better future for Higher Education? Thoughtfully edited by Laura Czerniewicz and Catherine Cronin, this rich and diverse collection by academics and professionals from across 17 countries and many disciplines offers a variety of answers to this question. It addresses the need to set new values for universities, trapped today in narratives dominated by financial incentives and performance indicators, and examines those “wicked” problems which need multiple solutions, resolutions, experiments, and imaginaries.

I’ve been promoted to Associate Director for Instructional Design at Wake Forest University. I’m really excited to try on this new role. 🤩

Im less excited that it means my friend who is currently in that role is leaving. 😭

That’s how it goes sometimes.

The Republican Plan to Make Voting Irrelevant

Unchecked, this will make the act of voting a Potemkin exercise and upend the very concept of representative government.

Getting a lot of questions so to clean up confusion—here’s how to respond when someone wishes you “Ramadan Mubarak”:
•Ramadan Mubarak to you too!
•Ramadan Kareem!
•Khair Mubarak!
•Happy Ramadan!
•I will buy you tacos after Ramadan ends!

So if you were unsure how to reply, you’re welcome.😉 May you all have a blessed and happy month full of peace and service to all humanity. Amen. ❤️

Working on a biggie project where part of it is focused on the learners sense of belonging on online classes. The arrival of the Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching arrived right on time to help me with my project.
If you're interested in #DesignThinking at all, take some time to read this. I love DT and I also see the harmful practices that surround it. There's a great shoutout to the design Justice Network @twitter@design__justice too.

Design thinking was supposed to fix the world. Where did it go wrong?

An approach that promised to democratize design may have done the opposite.
