Due to performance issues on mastodon.online (the most popular mastodon server for better or worse), I will be moving to another server. Please provide recommendations! I am looking for wholesome governance like what the Rust project has ;-)

So, what is ReDOS?

Redox OS itself has an initfs that is about 10MiB, containing disk drivers, the RedoxFS driver, and other required items to mount the root partition. This obviously means systems with mere megabytes of memory cannot run Redox OS.

ReDOS is a fork of the Redox OS bootloader that can fit in as little as 2MiB of RAM, and can run out of a RedoxFS partition. It enables low powered systems to experience a fully Rust OS, albeit much less useful than Redox OS.

@alexd is the awesome person who sent me this laptop. It is still in great shape, especially after giving it a compact flash upgrade!
I've been working on something that is probably a complete waste of time but otherwise fun. I have a Thinkpad 365ED that was given to me by a fan. It has 8MiB of RAM and came with Windows 95. I have been working on a fork of the Redox OS bootloader that provides a DOS-like shell for systems with as little as 2MiB of RAM. It minimizes space by using the Rhai scripting language for many programs. I am calling it ReDOS.
One of the things that is great about #Mastodon is that you can find people with similar interests, ethical views, and interests. I'm personally finding that lacking with people I interact with in real life. For example, it can be exhausting trying to advocate for #opensource at work and for orgs among people that frankly just don't care. Open Source has largely won because so many of those super-draining battles were won along the way but they still happen all. the. time.
I can already tell tomorrow is going to be a BIG day
You can tell how Star Trek: The Next Generation is set in a utopian future because every work meeting wraps up in at most four minutes with a decision about what the group is going to do, why they're doing it, who's in charge of doing it and who's supporting them in what ways, clearly communicated to all participants.
