I've been in and out of information security professionally, but somehow always have related projects. Mainly working with zeek and network level detection at the moment. SDR, cycling, and climbing enthusiast.

I boost a lot. Topics range far and wide from security and "the cybers" and may include politics, food, humor, science, law, nature, art, and other sundry unsavories. I occasionally post my own projects and thoughts.

When you know what the US has been about this whole time, that really puts the current moment in perspective. We've been up to some ugly, ugly stuff. And it usually gets either silence or applause. 2025 is a whole different animal. The response has been strong and immediate. We had *preemptive* mass mobilization. By millions of people who *aren't* being targeted by raids, jailing, and deportation. (Yet. 🙃) That's never happened in US history before. This is different.

@ai6yr @rose_alibi Oh, I'm sure I could find it, just haven't looked yet. It caught me by surprise when they introduced it and I was trying to rearrange tabs.

(Just grousing about an unexpected and unasked for "feature".)

@rose_alibi I have multiple ones doing playback of radio frequencies for fire monitoring. No can do.

@annaleen Couple that with living in a forest and it being fire season and doubly so. (This is both literal and a metaphor.)

I've seen this interview making the rounds lately, and I think it's a spot-on take on the kinds of "agentic AI" being pitched today.

@aj We think we're so clever outsmarting the bots and scrapers, but the joke's on us if we all get trained to walk around prefacing everything we say online with a string of inane and unlikely word combos -- basically bullshit -- to keep the machines from spewing it.

@AimeeMaroux If you've been told "your voice is annoying" and you're talking about queerness I would absolutely pay cash money.

Anyone else super annoyed trying to reorganize firefox tabs and having them "grouped" together, or just me?

@dr_a no but there is a freewheel on the hub mounted to the frame on the underside of the rack

Hmm. I wonder if it'd work on ABS plastic like what a Pelican case is made of. I have a big rolly suitcase model that's just asking for a project, probably some kinda big power bank + PV charge controller and maybe dockable solar panels to match + mobile radio kit thing, for when I want to be accompanied by nothing but the airwaves up a mountain somewhere :D

@MLE_online @amd fancy SOTA and camp power kit. I mean even fancier if I mixed glitter into the Monstaliner. Believe me I would.

@vxo @amd what is SOTA?

@MLE_online @amd Summits on the Air, it's a special class of amateur radio event where you go up to a mountaintop to "activate" it and log contacts with stations elsewhere. It's kinda the most fun sort of contesting I can imagine wanting to play with due to the cool scenery

@jrward I used sponge rollers and sponges that I got with the liner. They have a coarse texture that helps create the bumpiness

@MLE_online is it a long tail folding bike? Looks awesome! Nice work :-)

What is the bracket just behind the seat post?

@wall0159 I think it's a normal tail folding bike. It's not really very long.

The bracket is part of my convoluted solution to using a FWD ebike motor on the back wheel while still letting me pedal the bike. The bike has two chains, and a bicycle hub gets mounted to that bracket for transferring power between the chains
