Singh et al (2021, Dev Science) evaluated infant recognition of words spoken through various types of masks, finding (interestingly) an advantage for opaque over clear masks. #developmentalpsych #infantsstudies
Hi #psychresearch... I've had a student approach me with an idea for a "how are babies affected by face masks" study, and we are working on a lit review of what all has been done in the past couple of years, but I thought I would ask here too. Self-citations welcome!
We are particularly interested in data-driven empirical studies of whether / how infants and toddlers are affected by a social partner wearing a mask. We've seen some "discussion papers" but what empirical studies are out there?

My colleague Steven Roberts was recently invited to comment on a "debate" about diversity at a @PsychScience journal.

His experience was troubling and surreal, and lays bare the very biases he studies. He describes it in this important pre-print.

Yesterday I taught my last class ever, a seminar for first-year grad students introducing them to the field. For this meaningful occasion, one of the articles I chose to discuss was Steven Roberts et al's excellent "Racial inequality in psychological research."

Today, Roberts posted a preprint describing appalling, racist treatment he has received from the journal since publication of that article.

The perverse irony of the editor's behavior should be lost on no one

Huge news: the Georgia six week abortion ban, which was signed in 2018 by recently reelected Governor Brian Kemp, has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. Abortion is legal again in Georgia. 🥳 #gapol
