We used to say plastic is all over, that even fish and other marine animals could mistakenly consume bits of it, we never gave much thought about it. Now we are saying plastic is flowing in our blood vessels and is stuck deep in our lungs, sadly we are still not bothered 🥺!

The plastics treaty would not be sufficient if it will not provide financing for restoration of environments degraded by plastic. Plastic accumulating and already in the environment needs to be removed, every bit of it, including microplastics. #plasticpollution

In the West, plastic drink bottles attract a mandatory deposit fee but here in Africa companies from those countries are against introduction of a deposit & return schemes and that's why we have a humongous challenge with plastic waste. If DRS is working in the west, it can work here too!

With a reasonable degree of certainty, these plastics will never be recycled, repurposed, reused or whatever...Once they leave the supermarket shelves and they are used once, they will find their way into the environment. Such should be BANNED! #PlasticPollution
