@[email protected] The phrase "an organization not organized to carry on business for its own profit or that of its members" above comes directly from a list of things that are not "covered platforms" in the text of the bill. And the provisions of the bill only apply to "covered platforms". I don't see how else that could be interpreted. But the text could always be changed before passage and, like I said, I'm not a lawyer.
@evangreer Not a lawyer or anything, but I just got around to reading the actual text of KOSA. It is undoubtedly in many respects a bad, speech stifling bill, but as presently written, it does not apply to "an organization not organized to carry on business for its own profit or that of its members". I don't think Archive of Our Own or for that matter Mastodon would be covered by the law.
