Yeah... very sad. It was suicide. Robin Williams shook me up, too. But it happens every minute of every day. Such a tragedy.
For whatever reason, he felt he needed to leave us. He will be greatly missed.
Another opportunity to take a serious look at suicide missed.
Nothing better for anxiety/depression than spending time out in nature. I truly believe that.
Looking back on old photos, I found the ones from my first ever solo hike- the popular Blue Lakes in Ridgway, Colorado.
One month after moving from Illinois, I hiked it alone in November 2020 and had the entire trail to myself. I eventually turned around after the second lake as the snow was to my calves.
What's your best nature moment where you surprised yourself with your own capabilities?
We're definitely a dying breed, unfortunately. I like to push my limits. Most people don't. In my home state, I only know one other hiker/climber. Yeah, and the trips definitely can cost quite a bit. YOLO right? I have quite a few crazy stories LOL!
I've had those moments, too. This hike looks nice. Very scenic, while still challenging. I'd love to get to Colorado. For the rock climbing, too. Done a lot a crazy stuff out there. Took way too many chances.
Many, many times. Ecuador, Northern Cascades in WA, Presidentials in NH (White Mountains).
Machhapuchhare, Napal sacred mountain which was never climbed to it's peak!
