One of my prized possessions, an inscribed copy of Betty Dodson's memoir, *My Romantic Love Wars.*
Betty was a unique treasure, the “sister pervert” I never knew I had or needed. We met only once but spent nearly three hours together, truly getting to know one another.
The world would be better for looking back and recalling what she had to teach us. We still haven’t really learned.
Podcast Marketing in the Fediverse
===============================
I used to have four accounts on the e𝕏ecrable birdsite. I've divested myself of all of them and deleted the app from my fondle slab.
I miss the porn, I won't lie about that. I think porn is all that's keeping a sizable number of MDAUs there, but I'm far more glad to be done with that cursed platform than I am sorry to seek my erotic inspiration elsewhere.
The only significant thing I miss was being able to market my podcast to a whole lot of people. It was a truly useful channel for this money-losing passion project and—as every podcaster knows—winning devoted listeners is what it's all about, regardless of why we podcast. Otherwise, we could just record crap and listen to it ourselves. We podcast because we want to be heard and we monetize because we need to justify the time it takes to produce anything worth following.
… because shelter and food and healthcare.
I podcast because I'm passionate about the stories I tell and listeners tell me that it makes a difference in their lives. I don't need to get rich doing it, but I do need to not get poor doing it.
But then… if a platform is designated "no ads," that's an ad. Telling people about my podcast so I can grow my audience and patronage is advertising.
ADVICE REQUESTED: Are there ethical ways of reaching out to new listeners for my podcast here in the Fediverse?
Bonus question: Should "Fediverse" be capitalized?
