So you may have noticed the next competition announcement has disappeared. Let's talk about some updates on our side. Initially, Jabbercracky was intended to be a standalone competition site that could be run a few times a year, as development continued it transformed into a continuous event. We've been slightly stuck between those two phases, and the time has come to decisively pick a side of a fence. Waiting until major events to release content does not take advantage of the robust infrastructure we have built out and the high availability we have for the application.
We really want to push the concept we have to the next level and with that, there will be some growing pains. So there will not be an event on June 8th, our deepest apologies. Instead, we would like to offer a new schedule, where we release a new list every single month.
In this format, we release a new list the second Friday of every month as a one-week competition. These will be held every month and will not be eligible for the permanent leaderboard. Instead, we will hold two major leaderboard eligible events a year, one in the first semester and one in the second. These events will always have the same date, allowing players to plan further ahead. There will still be a second permanent leaderboard eligible event this year.
We believe this offers the most benefits, more content for those who want to play, and more time to create serious competitions for those seeking a challenge. This change would make the next casual event... next Friday, May 9th - May 16th. This event will be the first non-permanent leaderboard event but will mark the start of the introduction of monthly content to the site. The casual events offer an opportunity to play at your own pace and compare your performance to others, while the semester events represent serious competitions.
As always, thank you so much for participating in Jabbercracky. We want the event to remain community focused, so for any feedback do, please let us know.
