Utile rappel, en cette période où tant d’entreprises en bonne santé financière licencient massivement : la bonne santé d’une entreprise profite essentiellement à ses propriétaires, rarement à celles et ceux qui y travaillent.

People worry a lot about losing knowledge — about "burned-down libraries".

Comparatively few people seem to worry about what happens if you take a billion books full of auto-generated, often-untrue junk text and *add* them all to the library.

In theory, nothing is lost. In reality, everything is lost, because nothing useful can now be found.

A few years later, I still rely on @SirCmpwn's post on open source and commercial exploitation - https://drewdevault.com/2021/01/20/FOSS-is-to-surrender-your-monopoly.html - as both an introduction to FOSS principles as well as individualist market anarchism / mutualism.

What we know for sure is that we have one life.

It is illogical to spend that one life in the hopes of some eternity. Be good to people NOW. Enjoy them NOW. Enjoy life NOW. Don’t hurt people. Nothing in the name of love is wrong. Ignore the haters, they don’t pay your bills.

Wake up and smile for another day. There will be miserable hateful people, lying media, many things everyday trying to make you as miserable as they are. Leave them be.

Thanks @cabanier for kickstarting my time on Mastodon, but if I can self-host it, I will.
Containerised Mastodon in a few different containers and moved it to my own domain. Migration is not for the faint of heart. Your followers may come over, but your posts don't and "due to technical limitations" Mastodon doesn't import them.
