I keep meaning to buy this book on iBooks. The NeXT years have always been a big gap in the public narrative, and it’s kind of wild that some of my colleagues today are NeXT veterans.

A unified networking stack for Swift, layered from low-level I/O primitives, through common protocols, to a modern HTTP client and server API. ⚙️ That's what the new Networking workgroup is building. Interested in contributing? Join us: https://www.swift.org/blog/announcing-networking-workgroup/

@mpbarlow For what it’s worth, I recently pulled out my Atari Lynx, although that thing was such a battery hog that I usually played it with an AC adapter.

I know this sounds good on paper to everybody, but in my own experience it has been *decades* since I saw intolerable battery degradation before the whole device was obsolete anyways. Like I think maybe my iPhone 4 lost charge before I was ready to replace it.

Not trying to be a contrarian, but I noticed that the original was credited to Colbert himself, Late Show, and the city of Monroe, MI. And it had a hell of a lot of YT ads. Colbert and CBS don’t need the ad money, but Monroe probably does. Which makes ripping and monetizing yourself it a dick move.

I’m also amused by the fact that Truth Social’s tech stack is little more than a fork of Mastodon, and I’d give odds they’re not even in compliance with its open source license.

@QuietMisdreavus What is this, why do I care? Will it be better than Crossover? Is it just a wrapper around Game Porting Toolkit?
