I can’t help but wonder how they arrived at that number, 193,000 Linux users. What kind of analytical wizardry or data sorcery could have generated such precise numbers with such certainty? And don’t even get me started on the claim of 27 million South African readers. I’d genuinely love to know more about how these figures were calculated.

Hats off to the developers of GoodToCycle with their very helpful weather information for cyclists.

Not sure where it is hosted or where the data comes from, it's a bit slow to open here and I'm not sure about the accuracy, yet.

Would be nice to have a similar tool with fast and accurate local weather infos, and an alerts feature perhaps.

Also never heard of WBGT before using this mobile app or site.

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is apparently used by athletes and military to determine appropriate exposure levels to high temperatures. Do our weather stations even record such values here?

I just asked ChatGPT today's date and then confirm by double-checking. 😁

Here's how the conversation started:

GH: what is today's date?
AI: Today's date is 2023-02-15.
GH: are you sure?
AI: Yes, I am sure that today's date is 2023-02-15.

The picture of the week in Steve's latest podcast, Security Now! Episode 910, is such a classic fail. The #NewYorkTimes asking for your email address so they can help you understand the importance of not sharing it.

Wish we could get to a point where we can find a better alternative than using email addresses for subscriptions.

Looks like ChatGPT Plus is now available in South Africa but, at $20 or about R360 per month, way too pricey for me.

I guess I shall try to continue using the free version for as long as possible whenever it is available.

“I haven't seen my non-tech friends talk about this much, so let me break this down a bit: do you like severe weather alerts? Animal every hour or hydration reminder or other fun bots? Do you log into anything with your Twitter account? You won't be able to do that anymore.”
