hiya! my partner @sativa and i need some help. our lease is up at the end of march, and our medium-to-long term housing plans just fell through! on top of that, our ongoing financial support arrangement is in jeopardy and we can't afford to renew this place for a year without that financial support. so we need to fix up our current place, and find a new place to rent in the next month, and we just don't have the money to make all that happen.

here's what we need help with:

• move-out fees for our current place
• repair for normal apartment wear-and-tear
• move-in fees/deposit for the next place
• possibly a month or two at an airbnb until we can fine a new place

we don't know how much it's going to be altogether, but it'll definitely be at least a few thousand dollars. we hate asking for this much money on fedi but we're going to end up homeless if this situation isn't resolved properly, so we're exploring every avenue we can for help and resources.

in addition to everything else, @sativa is crippled and mentally ill and needs support to get us through this, and i'm currently going through a bad-brain episode and can't give them any real support right now. any words of support, chill one-off conversations, or offers of ongoing friendship from kind strangers would mean the world to em and would really make a difference in our situation. without any support this could turn into a serious health (and housing) crisis for us.

i made this (first image) about a year ago, shortly after moving into a new apartment in a new country. the theme was "tropical", and the palette is the 2-bit vintage ruby. at the time it was one of the most impressive things i've made, and i felt like a lot of it came forth pretty naturally. even the "survive" just kinda popped into my head

when i made it i was still pretty new to thinking artistically, and i made some choices i don't think worked out (the white clusters in the water, the streaks meant to evoke a sunset). a couple of weeks later i played around a bit more and came up with the second image. the elements are repositioned a bit, the palette is cut down to 1 bit, and the streaks in the sky have been replaced by some birds, whose shadows are visible on the water.

i'm not sure i like one over the other, i think they both evoke different feelings pretty well, and together they're some of my favorite pieces c:
