This Josh Johnson clip is beautifully illustrative of Gershon's media ideologies concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plxKPZpZLZo

I'm becoming the kind of person that needs time to meditate at work because taking a mid-day nap probably isn't appropriate. But I suppose if I reserve a conference room and close the door, whose going to notice the difference between these two things?
I listened to the most recent episode of the Gender Reveal podcast twice in quick succession because it was so enjoyable: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2v2p3s3e1THhIc52cr1ohs?si=W1YtTbHFTrWwQC1JJCF_6Q

Started working for the City of Bloomington in the Engineering Dept. a few weeks ago. Today I'm the only one in the office and it's the first time since starting I've had a moment to sit and reflect during my morning coffee about how damn lucky I am. Happy to work on the day before Christmas? You could not have convinced me a year ago I would be here.
I can't even say that I'm mad because I should have seen this coming. My university affiliation has been neglected for health reasons. Still, it hurts to see these virtual appendages ravaged by bureaucracy. When I'm putting all my energy into caring for and repairing my fleshy body, casualties like this just remind me of how much depression takes away from my life.
I can't prove it exactly, but I am certain that my institution's IT department disabling my Microsoft 365 license yesterday without warning caused Outlook to crash and corrupted my .ost file. This compromised my access to other work accounts and completely fucked Outlook. After reinstall, I had to get a new product license and start over. I'm at the stage where I can't even get the damn UI to toggle Dark Mode. I am the garbage in this university-made dumpster fire.
news about the vmware acquisition (bought by broadcom last november) finally punctuated my news bubble in the worst way. learning that all of the IT project managers working in a large business were fired simultaneously on account of the company's CTO response strategy. i've not heard a case that underscores the actual disposability of tech workers like this in a while.
I need it to be easier to complain about insurance company behavior. I need other people to intervene in the systematic dehumanization of people who need stimulant medications. I'm not the only one who wants to crawl in a hole and die when my pharmacist asks if I can absorb a $500 bill to pay for the brand name version of my medication because insurance automatically refuses to pay.

Is there some reason why a reddit post (5 hrs old, 8248 karma, 94%^) would be accessible for a Firefox user but when a Chrome user tries to visit the same link, they receive a "removed by the moderators" error?

Inadvertently stumbled on this puzzle after trying to share a rather innocuous joke. https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/1epgqpv/good_posture_is_important/

my thoughts are really all over the place this morning. more intensely than usual, all of these are bubbling to the top simultaneously:
- an outline for a child's book about how to play with cats (obviously with lots of rhymes)
- thinking in general about multiple stardew valley farms that are in process
- cycling through a list of work tasks that are a few days old at this point
- anxiety about the failing UPS my computer setup is dependent on
- need to call strangers today for help
- laundry..
