On the eve of the US election I finally finished reading It Can't Happen Here https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/It_Can't_Happen_Here by Sinclair Lewis. It's terrifying how this nearly century (1935) old story completes in 1939 without the author know that would be the year of the start of WWll and the protagonists of Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. The parallels to the way the fascist right in the US is similar to what he outlined all those years ago. Seems the history does repeat itself.
