Thoughts on the Prince Charles Cinema's Independence Day screening of Team America:
1. Chap in the row behind me who quietly said "Fuck yeah" as the BBFC card came up 👍
2. I'm still spotting new things with each viewing. This time: the subtle 'au secoooouuurs' mixed into the terrorists-in-Paris muezzin-call motif.
3. Why are there so many references to Top Gun, why have I never noticed them before, and why was the audience laughing like this was a joke I wasn't getting?
ecce! adest!
'In the Light of the Dawn' contains XVIII furry stories from the ages of antiquity, including my 'The Mouse from Mykonos', a romantic comedy set in the Greek theatre 😄 😩
My noisy cat neighbour came running to greet me when I got home last night. Tail up. Meow meow meow meow. Then started walking away.
Apparently I was supposed to follow it to a favoured patch of dry grass so it could enjoy my strokes in the correct comfort.
Apparently I'm pretty well-trained.
The man who came to fit my new cooker asked me which James Bond was my favourite
and I said Timothy Dalton
and now I'm being JUDGED
I'm gonna start lying about it.
There's something special about twin-boom aircraft and I have a big soft spot for the OV-10 Bronco (not least because it pops up in The Living Daylights on an ostensibly Russian air base).
So I'm a big fan of the Bronco Demo Team, based in Belgium (I even bought the hat). And today I finally saw their aircraft fly, at Abingdon Air & Country Show!
Other neat things: a Yak-3 showing support for Ukraine, and the best photo I (accidentally) got.
