Atlanta Antifascists 
According to social media posts, Rachel Siegel, a figure who recently achieved notoriety by protesting at the DNC with white supremacist and Nazi slogans and physically fighting against pro-Palestinian protesters, is scheduled to make a new appearance protesting the Harris-Walz campaign stop at Savannah on August 29th, 2024.
Even a short amount of time researching this person reveals that she is extremely mentally ill and using Nazi political protest as some form of extreme self-harm. She is Jewish and well aware that the Nazi audience she orients herself towards knows that fact, and hates her for it. However, the fact that she is mentally ill does not reduce her culpability in the slightest. The vast majority of mentally ill people who suffer from self-harm tendencies would never stoop to her level.
However, her likely goals and manic affect are important to take into account. A principle of antifascism is to always try to deny Nazis the things that they want. She wants media notoriety and some form of public self-harm involving, at the very least, becoming a target of verbal abuse. Therefore, our advice is to try to deny this to her if at all possible. We hope that antifascists in the Savannah area will be ready to counter her anywhere she goes. Given that she has so far successfully leveraged reporting of her actions to spread her message, we also encourage reporters to exercise extreme caution and avoid providing her a platform. As always, it's the best practice to blur out any Nazi propaganda when sharing images over social media.
