FOX!

After about 5 years of daily usage, my last bike computer build https://github.com/carrotIndustries/cyclotron-mini/ started to fall apart, so it's time for a new and improved one.
Introducing, the cyclotron smart, another spin on the concept of a dynamo-powered bike computer. This time, with a much nicer display and case design.

While it's already good enough for daily usage, there are still some firmware features and mechanical improvements left to do before releasing the design documentation. Stay tuned~

systemd-nulld

Theoretically this running in the background would work though lol

while true; do
echo "" > chroot/dev/null
done

How does one create a fake /dev filesystem for Linux user namespaces?

I only really need /dev/null and I don't really to escalate to root to use mknod.

If I can't find anything then I'm thinking of maybe making a little FUSE filesystem for it

Reminder: de-skilling as a trend in software engineering was already in progress well before LLMs.

Toxic productivity culture, people meeting badly-designed internal reward metrics, hopping jobs and never seeing the consequences of bad choices, plummeting quality, short-termism.

Sure LLMs add fuel to this fire, but I’m not at all convinced they’re causal.

If anything, their popularity seems more a consequence of the culture than cause.

@dalias @daisy we all need to be talking more about the social function LLMs are serving, too. enterprise code is not acausally or transcendentally like this. people want to do a good job. unrealistic enterprise expectations create working environments that facilitate repetitive code that is hard to understand. what LLMs are doing even beyond the structure of their output (which IS bad, don’t get me wrong) is encouraging the development of even *more* unrealistic expectations from management
This #genai #llm #tokenCost is getting silly. Can't wait for the bubble to burst.

Fun one for Australians:

"A real-world territory capture game played on public payphones. Register, get a PIN, find a payphone, call in, and claim it. Build triangles between captured phones to control territory and climb the leaderboard."

(note that pay phones no longer actually involve paying, as they're free to use)
