Elon Musk fired the janitors, so now “the smell of leftover takeout food and body odor has lingered” and “bathrooms have grown dirty.” It’s so bad that “some workers have resorted to bringing their own rolls of toilet paper from home.” https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/29/technology/twitter-elon-musk.html

I don’t know if news sites know this but they don’t have to do the “attach image in news posts” trick on Mastodon because link posts don’t get “deboosted” here

They just have to make sure their OpenGraph metadata works so the rich link card preview shows

I believe the core value of any urban housing policy should be this:

The people who work in restaurants, coffee shops, janitorial services, etc., should have a nice place to live and a very short commute. There should be plenty of housing for the people who keep the city going. That's it.

@jkriggins @taylorlorenz Either they play it hard and their subjects hate them, or they cozy up for access and the audience hates them for pulling punches. Damned either way!

Like Orwell's line goes: "Journalism is printing what someone else does not want published; everything else is public relations."

(Also, big +1 to QT, essential for connecting discussions across the graph)

OKAY! Remember how I wrote that Abramovich sold his majority stake in Measure 8, the big New York cannabis VC?

Not so fast.

On the same day that his friend Davidovich purchased shares in Measure 8 from Abramovich for over $21 million, another Abramovich entity called Sonora Capital lent Erlinad over $27 million.

He funded the purchase of his own shares to get below 50%.

When do I get the Trump taxes though?
FWIW I still hope Elon succeeds with Twitter. Why wish failure on anyone? But for me, not letting people post links to their other accounts was just too much.
There's always a tweet.
