@frankejames I’m glad he resigned. We live in a world where far too many politicians refuse to resign and just ride out the scandal.
The John Tory scandal is exactly the kind of thing a political operative might leak to the press if their politician boss was about to get in a lot of trouble for opening up protected land to his developer friends.
@c2silva Me neither. It just encourages an arms race between police and bad actors.
Every time I drive and I see a change in the city that forces me to slow down, the first thing I *feel* is frustration.
… but the first thing I *think* is: Good. This is helping slowing me down and make it safer for me when I bike or walk around here.
If the culture of policing isn’t broken, then how did a police department get away with calling one of its units ‘Scorpion’ for this long?
That’s 80s Bond villain kind of bad.
I’ve visited plenty of places in the world where police walked around with assault rifles and every time I’ve seen it, it’s made me feel less safe.
No city should have patrol officers walking around with these kinds of rifles and I do not want them in mine.
