It’s Superb Owl Sunday

I’ve visited plenty of places in the world where police walked around with assault rifles and every time I’ve seen it, it’s made me feel less safe.

No city should have patrol officers walking around with these kinds of rifles and I do not want them in mine.

I’m honestly surprised that the far right mob isn’t up in arms against the original Pink Floyd album art.

It’s basically an illustration of their worst fears.

It’s unfair that giant shopping malls with enormous parking lots like Yorkdale and Fairview get amazing access to regular transit while small businesses don’t. And cities continue to subsidize their their profits with free parking.

Example: Yorkdale Mall (🧵 )

Let’s be honest here: Gas stoves have been marketed as a sign of social mobility for decades.

But it was always about marketing. The reality is that burning gas in your home is bad for your health. And we don’t need to do that anymore.

So it looks like #BudgetTO has $17.6 billion in climate action in the 10-Year Capital Plan. That’s a decent number. The trouble is that the total 10-Year Capital Budget is $49.3 billion.

What impact will it have if 65% of the capital plan invests into the wrong things?

FYI: Moraine Lake is not the only place in Canada with an Overwhelming Crush of Cars.

Someone should do a story of how the dream of the single-family home *began*. It would sound something like:

- broken treaties
- paved farmland
- car dependency

Great.

Thanks, Elon.

🙄

Do we want space for people to live in? Or should we use that space to store cars?

This house chose people.
