Welp, I that was worth doing even if I already had my filament profile setup with 5C of what this tower is telling me I should probably be at. 245C on the first layer and 250C after that it looks like. Part cooling was in the right ballpark too, maybe a little more would be good because the bridging is a bit rough... Could be bridging flow rate though and I don't want to get into tuning that if I don't need to.
After a couple of days of dialing in I think I can call that a good first layer for PETG. I can tell the bed levelling isn't as consistent as it I'd like but it's still manual until I can get this new X carriage and tool head printed.
One of the photos which I think turned out better than expected from a visit to

Got to stay at one of the Safari Lodges at the West Midlands Safari Park over the weekend and this is the closest I've been to a Red Panda let alone a baby Red Panda which had just started coming out of the nest box a few days before we arrived.
Today is the anniversary of Voyager 2's launch. Launched about 2 weeks before Voyager 1 it's mission duration currently stands at 46 years. It's location is beyond our sun's heliosphere and into interstellar medium but, while still communicating via the deep space network, the probe is down to only a few years of energy remaining.

NASA Solar System ExplorationI'm pretty happy with how this test print turned out. E-steps and retractions need a little bit more fine tuning and I think the hot end is slightly too close the bed but it's a start. Now to get some clear PETG filament and figure out how to achieve good light transmission through infill... And print in PETG.
