Today our PDP11 learned its first important lesson: You need to FA to FO! Bare metal C code with a custom asm trampoline, no stdlib, cross-compiled for pdp11 from gcc-14.2 on macOS arm64, exported as a paper tape of all things, loaded via remote desktop to a windows machine that loads it via serial into RAM via the ODT mode. Almost just like in the old days. Almost.

Project GutenbergEnglish self-taught mathematician and physicist Oliver Heaviside was born #OTD in 1850.
He invented a new technique for solving differential equations, independently developed vector calculus, and rewrote Maxwell's equations in the form commonly used today. He significantly shaped the way Maxwell's equations are understood and applied in the decades following Maxwell's death. His practical experience in telegraphy provided a foundation for his later theoretical work.
