@TomFoxTom The Better Half bought me an Industrial Strength IPA Advent Calendar this time last year. It was remarkably well received. Tragically, perhaps because night always follows day, it appears to have been a one-off. Even employing the height of subtlety ("Remember that fabulous beer calendar you got me last year?") seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
Having introduced two generations of children to a Christmas Grotto, I believe I have empirical evidence that the instinctive response of all young children is to mentally ask: "Yeah you say he's a benevolent guy with a beard, but why do you never see Santa and Charles Manson in the same room?"
