@LeapingRobot The paper was co-authored by people in "entrepreneurship and strategic management" (i.e., business school), and no actual historian (let alone a historian of science and technology) contributed to this. So it is immediately suspect in my view.

A reminder that Kate McDonald, Asif Siddiqi, and I edit a book series for Johns Hopkins on the history of technology.
