Though I try to apply my design thinking to the branding of projects/orgs that I’m directly involved with, it’s *never* my only task. Sometimes timeframes get REALLY protracted.
For example, refining the Gamma Space Logo to reflect the energy of the community has taken me *years* to find the time to put my thoughts into action.
I’m much happier with the result, though.
Spent some time this morning after a stressful situation noodling with Terrifying Jellyfish’s NOUR.
Been waiting for this game from when I was first scouting for short-form VR content years ago. So glad more people can play it now.
Awesome work, TJ!
Medicine - Her Highness #vinyl
Many got their first taste of Medicine from the band appearance in Brandon Lee's final film, The Crow, but I had been a listener since 1993's The Buried Life.
They were noisy, shoe-gazey, and even a little bit industrial sounding at times. Her Highness, was something else.
Digable Planets - Blowout Comb
What an incredible album, one that cooly raises a middle finger to the institutionalized success and expectations that were heaped onto the shoulders of these fantastic artists.
Classic through and through.
Nondi_ - Flood City Trax
Abstraction, footwork, beautiful melodies, and compositions that wash in eddies around blighted city landscapes. This is a lovely album with an undertow that can catch you unawares. #vinyl
Curve - Faît Accompli (Extended) EP
I've always seen this as more of a novelty, but the two live cuts on the flip, Coast is Clear and Die Like A Dog sound fantastic on this revisit. The completionist in me is ecstatic.
And I'll let Faît Accompli overstay its welcome *any day*. #vinyl
Sunday morning #vinyl! Curve - Cherry EP
Die Like A Dog still slaps, but this EP's overall sound feels like the band's thesis: driving beats, swirling guitar textures, a backbone of bass grooves and, of course, Toni's voice.
Curve - Horror Head EP
I'm not sure if I've always preferred the Horror Head remix by Alan Moulder, but this vinyl remaster is making a powerful argument for it to be the preferred version. Some of the noise backwash is toned down a bit and it all comes together perfectly. #vinyl
