The Purpose of the App Store
According to JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee, citing Sensor Tower, Apple's App Store revenue for May 2025, increased by 4.9% month-over-month (which compares to an average sequential increase of 2.3%) and an acceleration of year-over-year revenue to 13.0% in May versus up 11.8% in April. On a year-over-year basis, the App Store downloads increased by 3.1% in May (versus +5.8% in April) according to Chatterjee.

Regardless of what happens in the keynote today with calculators, I wanted to say that I’ve been dealing with a serious family health crisis for the last three months, and I’ve spent a lot of that time around hospitals.
So, please don’t add to my stresses today by tagging me in a million things about getting Sherlocked because, genuinely, even if Apple destroys my entire business today, it’s not going to be my biggest concern.
