100 Hours Passed Since Sinkhole Appeared in Yashio, Saitama; Truck Driver Still Not Found

Saturday marked over 100 hours since the sinkhole appeared at an intersection in Yashio, Saitama Prefecture. There is still no information of the truck driver who became trapped in the sinkhole after his truck fell in.

@MyLittleMetroid Did that while backpacking. Luckily, we weren’t that far from the road and managed to hitchhike back to our car.
@JoeRess After reading some of the comments, clearly we need a poll that asks: “What did you think the previous poll was asking?” :)
@Erzbet @devxvda Along those same lines, if someone creates a reading of “The Odyssey” by Homer, I would expect them to be paid even though the text is in the public domain.

@devxvda @matt I would tend to agree in most cases about book vs ebook. It just wasn’t what the poll was about.

If the electronic copy offered additional features beyond just a scan of the text, then I’d say it’s a separate thing to be paid for. For example, if I have a collection of some series, and when I click on a character’s name a window would show up with a timeline of everything they have done with links to the place in the book for that event….that needs a separate purchase.

@matt @devxvda I think you misread audiobook for ebook.

@dennisfaucher @leerayl @jerry If using an iPhone and installing as a PWA to the home screen, beware of an open bug that doesn’t allow you to refresh your feed while in the app. You have to kill it and then restart it.

Otherwise, I really like it.

When Elk is opened as an app in iOS, the refresh gesture does not work anymore · Issue #1712 · elk-zone/elk

@eternalyperplxed @jerry Wait…that was a scam?!

I remembered today that Mac Source Ports is a thing: https://macsourceports.com/

All the Mac games from my youth (and the DOS games I was envious of) packaged up as shiny native binaries for Apple Silicon 😋
