I’m honored you are taking this time to review my posts and add downvotes. I’m sure your life is fulfilling.
ok, thanks but I am literally an expert in global copyright and know you are being overly cautious and risk averse for no reason. Have fun with I was just trying to be informative.
I read through the list, there is no way that IPS patches in this context are a violation. None of the original material is used or even referenced in the IPS patches, thus they can not belong ROM files copyright holder. They are collections of assembly code without any of the original material contained within.

The site hosts files in the IPS format which only contain 100% original code and don’t in any circumstances I’m aware of break DRM. These old games are comparatively small and written in assembly language so these are small files that get merged with a text editor that add additional code to otherwise existing ROM files, which may or may not be illegally obtained.

Warning US only: They are often said to be covered under fair use but I am not certain that is true, I would assert they would be fully copyright to the author of the IPS file and whatever license they released their code under. The fact that their code isn’t complete isn’t relevant and it wouldn’t even be considered a commentary or derivative (both types of either fair use or granted license) as none of the original content is present. An example I can think of related to this in market would be “Riff Trax” which are audio tracks released by several comedians who used to perform on Mystery Science Theater 3000. They give a full commentary on a movie but contain none of the original material, it is on you to press play at a specific time during the movie so the commentary track aligns with the film. There are no references I can find in the case law to anything like “rom hacks” for what its worth so I would say this is extremely low risk in my professional opinion, but I do not want to dox myself and present credentials so ymmv.

So what? I don’t pay him for the open source and freely provided software I run on my instance which promotes the exact opposite. I really don’t believe that Meta align with my views either but I still use instagram. If I really cared about this I would talk to them instead and try and influence them positively than get rid of the lemmy software. If someone wants to write an alternative go for it.

When I talk to many older cisgendered people a commonality in their experience I hear communicated to me seems to be a kind of sudden awareness of trans issues and even transgender people, I’m aware that trans people have always existed and the spectrum gender outside of western cultures is diverse. I don’t personally believe that trans people suddenly came into existence but I can kind of understand someone who is generally unaware of the world and not interested in issues that don’t directly impact them could feel that way if they interact with mainstream news.

As a trans woman do you feel the same way or has there always been awareness of the issue because of your situation? Do you think an increased awareness and focus on trans issues has been overall more positive or negative?

You are just blabbering at me nonsense, this is a fucking history community. I’m sorry I offended your American sensibilities. Thank you for repeating US propaganda at me. Maybe instead of focusing on Iran and their problems you should take a look at yourself and how many many people are gunned down every single day by government agents.

The material conditions of today would not be this way if your fucking shithole country didn’t steal all of our fucking oil for most of our histroy while funding islamic fundamentalism around the world to fight the godless commies only to have it come back and bite you in your fucking ass. You are picking up tragedies in the news and totally ignoring the history, in a history community, because you feel the need to defend US foreign policy on your free time. Leave me out of it. Both Iran and the US are evil countries filled with propagandized idiots like yourself.

No one, certainly not me are making excuses for the Iranian government. I am a literal refugee and this is a history community. The photo has an obvious bias to it as if the 70s were a time that they should return to and also suggests most women in Iran were living like this in the 70s. Neither are true. There are also women today who dress like this in Iran and don’t wear Hijabs, it isn’t as strict as the media makes it seem and rich people don’t follow laws anywhere in the world.

In an earlier comment I reference that the material conditions in Iran are due to the coup in 1953, but I don’t think in this chain and it was in my mind when I wrote it. I was talking about a specific lesson from 1979.

The revolution was a communist revolution brought forth by Iranian leftists and students who had no ability to plan for after the collapse of the Shah’s government. They were more focused on the revolution than leadership and long term success, maybe they thought the Russians were going to help but it is hard to know because they were all executed. My uncle was among them. I don’t blame them the need for revolution is always present but before the revolution there was no solidarity among the people so when the revolution came the socialist coalitions collapsed and Khomeni came from Qom to establish the Islamic republic.

The lesson is that before we can be aggressive and support wars and violence we need the next regime to have roots in the ground. This is why I believe that orgs like Richard Wolff’s democracy@work are more important than anything else we can do as leftists because once time comes where the capitalists need to be removed we need to have the foundation of the society that comes next in place already or else we’re going to end up with barbarism, like how most of the 20th century communist attempts went and no longer exist. In this specific scenario democratizing the enterprises in Iran would have disrupted the Bazaari and may prevented the rise of the current Liberal government in Iran.

That is the shame of the revolution and the lesson tankies refuse to learn. The mullahs and their followers didn’t start or fight any of the battles. They came and restored peace in the resulting power vacuum.
The “supreme leader” is more like John Roberts in a US context than the actual dictatorial leader of Iran. The Iranian government actually resembles the US government in a lot of ways where the Supreme Court is under the control of the Mullahs. I’m sure no one in America can imagine what it is like to live in a country where the supreme court is filled with religious fundamentalists.
