@gruber @_ I don't wanna spoil the fun, but a quick wikipedia search makes me doubt this bit.
"Broccoli resulted from the breeding of landrace *Brassica* crops in the northern Mediterranean starting in about the sixth century BCE. Broccoli has its origins in primitive cultivars grown in the Roman Empire […]."
so I guess the family name might stem (ha!) from being broccoli farmers, but I doubt they can trace their family name back that far to claim the vegetable was named after them?
