Microsoft Windows 11 download and media creation tool webpage is currently... inaccessible.
This 160GB boot drive died in the wee hours on Friday, apparently due to a head crash. But it owes me nothing, it made it just past its 20th birthday! Caivar, se.
I have acquired a large number of M93p, M700q and M710q Tinys and 256GB NVMe OEM drives as part of the march to Windows 11. They are good computers! Alas, I need to figure out what to do with them all.
We did not go to the top of Sleeping Giant. We walked the South Kabeyun Trail to Tea Harbour. It was about a four hour round trip hike on a relatively easy trail that was cleared as an old mining road. Perfect weather in the mid to upper teens. Here's a picture of the trail, and of Tea Harbour.
This is the bridge carrying traffic on Hwy 11/17 in Nipigon. It crosses the 48km Nipigon River. It's a beautiful, 4-lane bridge. It's also the only road link between Eastern and Western Canada. Like, the *only one*. So if it fails, you're either driving south, flying, or finding a train. Twinning it might not be a bad idea?
This is at the parking lot of the trail head at Sleeping Giant. It's a solar powered Starlink shack, the only public Internet signal available in the park. The radio is set very low, so it's a limited signal unless you're almost directly beside it. No mobile service in the park.
Dropped DD off at Lakehead last week, and we took a side trip to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Here's a picture from Mary Louise Lake along the road through the park.
Apparently Windows is installing Intel driver updates from... um, 1968?
The upsell to a 2TB hard drive with an Optane cache. Probably bought on sale to move inventory.
I may have gone to downtown Buffalo today. And man, their city hall and various buildings in their downtown core are 1900s beautiful. Also visited the McKinley memorial. Very little traffic inbound, modest traffic on the way back. The Peace Bridge is cashless now, by the way. Didn't bring anything back with me, so no need for customs to review my grocery bill and pay extra. A few Canadian flags visible, but not many Ontario plates.
