I'm a nonbinary songwriter, guitarist and singer who dabbles in various horns. I'm a full-time guitar teacher and musician based in Lexington, KY. A previous life direction left me with a deep love of language learning (follow me on Duolingo - GrandNagusGabe), but a desire to not wind up working for a huge corporation or the US government led me into music full-time. I’m also into TTRPGs, Star Trek, biking, Judaism, and any good narrative or couch co-op PC games I can play with my fiancée.
@jesse I feel like there are two simultaneous directions that the culture is going in: insanely short, constantly changing content without room to breathe (tik tok, youtube videos where they literally cut out the pauses between sentences) and content that is so long form and unedited that you’re basically just hanging out with the creator for hours without a ton of intentional direction and can drop out or in whenever (tons of streamers, super-long 2hr+ podcasts). Attention’s gotten kinda weird.
@chenelno1 September by Earth Wind and Fire. Not an original pick, maybe, but I don't think it's ever failed to leave me feeling generally better than I was before hearing it.
@edgeofbreakup That is such a sweet blues tone!
@NathanKing @kkarhan @marcoarment I don’t actually think that’s purely pedantic. Just about 20 years after the US declared independence from its European overlord in favor of liberal self-governance Haiti attempted to do the same. The US gave no support to the revolution so directly inspired and preceded by its own, and found themselves supporting the white colonial governments and providing refuge for slave owning French rather than siding with the black Haitians seeking liberty. Pretty damning
