Are you a Welsh learner?

Tomorrow night (Wednesday) there will be a quiz FOR learners, brought to you BY learners (my dad and me)!

It will be in the Daffodil pub, Windsor Place, Cardiff. CF10 3BZ.

It's free to get in, but there are only a few spaces left, so you have to register online or you won't get in!

My fellow Welsh learner @kevin has commented on how confusing it is that "tost" means both "pain" and, well, "toast".

Here's an example of an ad that uses this double meaning to make a cute pun.

"Gyda bwyd a diod wedi'u gwneud ar alw, gallwch gael darn o dost, heb ben tost."

This means: "With food and drink made to order, you can have a piece of toast without the headache."

"Tost" in the sense of "toast" is played off against "pen tost", pain in the head or headache.

I am delighted to share the news that my dad has written a book based on a real murder case in Edwardian Cardiff.

It's called The Unrespectable Woman and it tells the true story of the last woman ever to be hanged in Wales.

It's historical fiction, but based on real-life events and a lot of original research. This is the first novel ever to tell her story. Available on Amazon here:

Boosts very welcome indeed. #Cardiff #HistoricalFiction

This is one of the fake bus stops I'm talking about. They look real but if you look closer you'll see the timetable holder is empty. Meanwhile, the real bus stop across the road from the fake one has no shelter, so everyone is trying to take cover from the p***ing rain by ducking under the eaves of a nearby building. What are you even doing, Cardiff?

Quick voicenote about the ll sound in Welsh. May not actually be very helpful! #DysguCymraeg

I'm staying in beautiful Solva. Does anyone know what the origin of the name is? I realise it's Solfach, but what does the Sol bit mean?
