Climate and nature guide to Mastodon - Helena Horton - Medium

Hello! Iโ€™m Helena Horton, an environment reporter at the Guardian. For years now, I have used Twitter to curate a list of nature and climate follows. I used it to find out what you are all up toโ€ฆ

Entirely expected, but no less depressing to see the #COP27 draft and realize once again how effective industry is at blocking any meaningful progress on climate. The establishment of a loss and damage fund is great, but it's deeply troubling that world leaders are embracing an all-adaptation-no-mitigation strategy

This year at #COP27  there was a much bigger focus on nature and forests and its gratifying to see this reflected in the final text.

We now need to roll this forward to #COP15 in Montreal starting in just 17 days.

My view: The climate loss&damage fund should also be filled by those companies who knowingly sell a dangerous product and actively mislead the public about the risks and lobby against climate policy. Precedent is the tobacco companiesโ€™ case.
