Jim Morling, 19, was the youngest employee at Meggitt’s linseed oil factory in Gladesville when this photo was taken on 11 February 1948. Jim’s special pal was a galah he had found exhausted near the mill. He had been in the job for three years and, like other workers, shared in the company’s profits.
