Snackaholic, procrastinator extraordinaire, 🇮🇪 in 🇬🇧, still missing 🇨🇦
The BBC today:
@JoePajak It even caught me, and I had no social events, went very few places, masked etc. Sorry I wasn't in a high grade FFP3 instead of just KN95 type. Seems like it's absolutely awful out there at the moment! And my Trust is sending vaguely panicked emails about the rate of flu admissions, added to the Covid ones. Feel like hibernating for a few months.
@skepticsbookoflists Oh my God. Love this!! Although I feel very OLD now in comparison. Awwww!!!!!!

Throwing boiling water into extremely cold air can lead to the Mpemba effect where it freezes and turns into a snowy mist.

However, it can also lead to severe burns. Turning boiling hot water into “snow” or steam in freezing temperatures, is sending some to hospital with severe burns. While this video looks awesome, the reality is that many who do it get splashed back with hot, boiling water.

@kityates I find their obsession with smiling faces so creepy too. Like, even babies can tell a smile from the eyes. I'd rather not have the Grim Reaper grinning at me while infecting me, thanks.
@cerulean_man Here a while...just need to remind myself to use it!
@cabd Very weird! And a shame. You can't really expect the government to do *everything*. Some community spirit helps. You see people helping neighbours with it as well, and it's quite heartwarming. Better than everything being someone else's problem. It tended not to come up much at home in Ireland because snow was so rare.
@cabd People keep complaining about it not being done in the UK and Ireland, but when I lived in Toronto (and family /friends are in the US too) it was the responsibility of the resident/business to clear their own bit. Assume the same in European countries that see snow.
@kamado I think one of the pandemic effects for me has been the realisation that I really don't like crowds and never did. Getting a break during lockdowns has made me far more intolerant
@kudntgvamunkys @kamado it's brutal. I used to end up staying at work until 9pm on Friday nights to try to wait for Christmas market traffic to ease off. Now try to get out a little before 5 and finish at home if necessary instead of sitting in traffic for up to an hour to travel 4 miles
