Just cleared the snow in the front street in front of the house, and salted it too. Total number of paths cleared in our street: 1. Why don't people do this any more?
@cabd People keep complaining about it not being done in the UK and Ireland, but when I lived in Toronto (and family /friends are in the US too) it was the responsibility of the resident/business to clear their own bit. Assume the same in European countries that see snow.
@grainne It used to be the case growing up in the North East of England that you'd do your path and the bit outside your house. I don't know why that's not done everywhere. I find it really weird.
@cabd Very weird! And a shame. You can't really expect the government to do *everything*. Some community spirit helps. You see people helping neighbours with it as well, and it's quite heartwarming. Better than everything being someone else's problem. It tended not to come up much at home in Ireland because snow was so rare.
