Target is ending its diversity goals as strong DEI opponent occupies the White House

Discount store chain Target says it’s joining rival Walmart and a number of other prominent American brands in scaling back corporate diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. DEI policies have come under attack from conservative activists and, as of this week, the White House. Target said Friday that the changes to its “Belonging at the Bullseye” strategy would include wrapping up a five-year program it established to help Black employees build meaningful careers and to improve the experience of Black shoppers following the police killing of George Floyd in 2020. The Minneapolis-based retailer says it also won’t renew the DEI goals it typically set every three years.
