My browser extension StopTheMadness Pro stops autoplaying videos and hides Sign in with Google on all sites. It also hides sticky videos and notification requests on many sites.

For more extreme measures, try my Safari extension StopTheScript. It kills JavaScript dead on websites you select. For example, from the blog post, it makes The Guardian readable.

@atpfm Generac alternative is hybrid or PHEV car supplying 1,500W AC.

Rabbit-hole I went down looking for grid-issues backup, and there's few hybrid and PHEV which can supply NOT 150W but 1,500W. (Try getting seller to confirm THAT detail.)

Bought used Outlander PHEV 2020. Never used 1500W for house yet. But gas-goes-bad and garage-is-a-bomb were my thoughts too when taking this path.

Toyota and Mitsubishi can turn gas into AC until tank runs dry. Most others can NOT. Bizarre constraints.

@atpfm Tried to watch Chernobyl (bought all 5 episodes in 2019) only saw episode 3. Checked all our shows easily spotted: Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, The Leftovers, Sopranos, Star Trek TOS Remastered, Watchmen missing episodes. Called Apple support was told to check Hidden. On MacOS: TV app -> username -> Hidden Purchases -> TV Episodes. There were ~100 hidden episodes randomly dispersed across most shows. Maybe because I'm Canadian and this is a Canada thing? Prob like this >6 months.
