Chemistry PhD turned science communicator. I co-founded @agatacomms, an agency that makes complicated things easy. I also write in Chemistry World, C&EN and other publications. Views are my own.

The anti-science movement is "organized, it’s well-financed, and it’s politically motivated. It’s doing a lot of damage to the country and to American science and scientists. And now it’s become a lethal force." https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/vaccine-scientist-warns-antiscience-conspiracies-have-become-a-deadly-organized-movement/

My latest story for Chemistry World covers an exciting discovery in photoswitches – researchers have achieved a full conversion from E to Z isomers in azobenzenes thanks to cool capsules that also conceal a photosensitiser 💡🔦 Read more: https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/encapsulation-drives-visible-light-isomerisation-in-azobenzene-photoswitch/4018163.article
Encapsulation drives visible light isomerisation in azobenzene photoswitch

Efficiency and selectivity of photoswitches boosted by confining light-sensitive structures into supramolecular capsules

Hey hey! I'm back here to ask you a favour 🙈 Today, I ran the Cancer Research UK #RaceForLife 🧬 to support their AMAZING ✨ work. I'm looking for support and donations here 👉🏼 http://bit.ly/FER10K

If you can, every little helps 💰 If not, reposting this would boost visibility and that's great too 🩵🎉

Every penny goes directly to CRUK 💊

Thank you very much 🥰

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.

Check it out! Dave Smith, Peter O'Brien and co-workers at York University have developed gels that make organolithiums stable under ambient conditions FOR OVER 20 DAYS

It's a total game-changer for synthesis in academia and industry. Imagine the applications!

@Elisa @EllisCrawford Thanks, Elisa 💖
@EllisCrawford Apparently the trick is making the pieces that "magically" piece together, instead of building it block by block. Sort of click chemistry meets COFs (huge approximation)
