✨With the EU Commission & the HUMANads ERC, in the past 6 months Sophie Bishop (Leeds) & I have been developing the 1st European legal training for influencers/content creators & EU consumer law. We're launching the Influencer Legal Hub on 16 October. Join us! https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_AL8oHoy9SjCudgar0343Qw#/registration
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Launching the Influencer Legal Hub. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

The European Commission is proud to launch the Influencer Legal Hub, a free library of resources on European consumer law applicable to influencers who are based in or engage with audiences in the European Union. This first of its kind initiative was developed in collaboration with academic experts. The library includes a collection of short animated training videos, supported by a range of other resources designed to make the law more accessible to influencers, their agents and managers as well as the general public. As the official launch of the Influencer Legal Hub, this webinar brings together representatives of the European Commission, academic experts, journalists, national consumer authorities and organisations, as well as industry representatives, who will present and discuss the Influencer Legal Hub, and address the importance of compliance with EU consumer protection laws. The webinar programme with invited speakers and Zoom link will be sent to you upon the confirmation of your registration. Influencer Legal Hub [email protected]

This polling obsession bears an uncanny resemblance to feudalism.
The silver lining of the entire Twitter drama is that we’re seeing social media more clearly for what it really is: a business, an unequal governor, a private space. ‘Vox populi, vox dei’ prompted by a ‘democracy’ clout-chaser is absolutely delusional, and it should lead to the redesign of digital constitutional narratives: social media organizations are inherently commercial actors, and not functional sovereigns.
The Special Interest Group ‘Governing the Social Media and Data Economy’ at Utrecht University hosted its first event in the Invited Speakers series! With Nadya Purtova & Anne Helmond we welcomed @mikarv who gave a fascinating talk about ‘The Rights of Computed People and of Computing People’, raising concerns about multi-party computation. Thank you for inspiring the crowd, especially our law&tech students in attendance. More talks in the series are coming up!
Did a little investigation over the weekend to see what the state of the reputation market is. Dark web: AlphaBay, an og market currently only has 1 offer for Twitter accounts with 1000 hq followers, deliverable in 1h for 145$. Tor2door has 8 & ASAP 7 offers for Twitter likes, retweets, followers. 1000 likes = 8$. I was quite surprised that there weren't more vendors/offers tbh. I guess it’s because these services are so under-scrutinized that they are ads on google!
