I've probably posted this previously but it's what a tech friend of mine describes as an incredibly quotidian view into mid 80s computer engineering. https://ia601701.us.archive.org/20/items/year-in-dev/YearInDev.pdf
As a friend of mine regularly reminds me, I've gotten a lot done this summer with a few other plans in motion. But STILL can't believe it's almost labor day and I haven't made more progress with house.
I clearly remember sitting in my dorm room and reading about the Red Hat experiment in giving stock to maintainers. It was a real "whoa, we can make money doing this?" moment. This is so weird. I get this soft cooler backpack thing from Amazon and I go. "Why the hell would I order this? I have more soft coolers than I know what to do with. Did I somehow mis-click something?" Thing is it's not in my Amazon order history and was fulfilled by a third party. (Was indeed shipped to me which was my next thought.) I guess I should just keep it clean and safe in case it appears in my history at some point.
Haven't written anything more substantial yet. Don't know if I will. But I have decided to retire and will be leaving Red Hat towards the end of April.
