I have not seen any commitment on the part of WordPress.org to continue development of their version of ACF. In the official announcement, Matt writes, "...if any developers want to get involved in maintaining and improving it, please get in touch.", and I'd be surprised if there were many takers. For that reason, I've switched all of my sites using ACF over to the WPEngine version. I am hopeful that this will allow continued use of ACF without disruption. #WordPress #WPEngine #ACF
